As we get closer to Election Day I have been getting a few messages asking; who do I support for president?

Honestly, I am not big on politics, but will offer my thoughts on the election as a whole. I feel as though in this election, a lot of people are supporting their chosen candidate for personal reasons and not choosing based on the needs of America.

From the beginning with a Woman (Hilary) and an African-American (Obama) running we knew one of them had a legit chance of winning the Democratic nomination. It seemed the issues affecting America were quickly put on the back burner (while we went deeper into a recession) and the top priority became to make HISTORY.

Do you honestly believe that John McCain would have really picked a female running mate if he were running against two white males?

Do you believe it was a desperate attempt to save his campaign?

Whenever I am out and get approached by people working campaigns the first thing they ask me is how about that Obama? Then depending on the race of the person that’s asking the question the follow up comment is “we got to get him in” or “Do you think it’s possible to get him in?”

They’ve never asked me how I felt about the issues or even if I were a republican or democrat! I think to myself, wow I guess because I am African-American that I’m required to vote for Obama…lol

At the same time, as soon as McCain picked Palin as a running mate he gained 15% more support (women?) who were initially Obama supporters and most of the people that changed over had never heard of her or knew what she stood for.

You tell me what does that look like?

Now I could go on and on about things that have been said and done to prove my point about how this election isn’t about America but just keeping some one you don’t like out based upon sex, race, age- but my point is these things shouldn’t be factors of your choice.

Instead, let’s look at the problems that need to be fixed and research the candidates to see which one you feel is more qualified to fix them and go from there. It’s your choice. Make the right pick…
